The St.Vincent Bone Marrow Transplant Program was established in 1989 by Michael Wiemann, M.D. With the addition of Ruemu Birhiray, M.D., in 2003, our Bone Marrow Transplant Program began offering allogeneic transplants in addition to autologous transplants.

The St.Vincent Bone Marrow Transplant Program is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and is the only non-university based bone marrow transplant program in the country to achieve the designation. FACT accreditation designates high-quality patient care and high-quality laboratory performance.

Bone marrow transplants are conducted on the sixth floor of St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, located on West 86th Street.

For many patients with diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and aggressive solid tumors, a bone marrow transplant can be a new chance at life.

“My doctors were confident about my treatment plan.
That confidence transferred to me.

Having a bone marrow transplant was the smartest thing I ever did!”    D.G.
