Oncology Annual Report: Lung Cancer
Like most cancers, early detection of lung cancer through screening is critical to improving survival. However, unlike breast cancer, currently there is no effective screening test for lung cancer. These charts indicate St.Vincent patients are more frequently diagnosed with advanced stages – Stages 3 and 4 – due to the lack of public screening available at this time.

The median age for lung patients is between 60 and 70, with higher mortality (death) rates for African-Americans and other minorities due to a lack of awareness among these populations.
