The Patient Navigator

One of the unique features of the center is the Patient Navigator. The navigator assists the cancer patient and their family through the very personal journey of cancer.

The patient navigator understands that cancer is unique to each individual and needs vary widely. With the spirit of caring you have come to expect from St.Vincent, the navigator assists with:

  • Coordination of appointments
  • Acquiring outside medical records
  • Answering insurance questions
  • Obtaining second opinions and other referrals
  • Answering other questions throughout the course of treatment
  • Locating additional community information
  • Referrals for education and support
Providing real answers to real questions – understanding the human side of a cancer diagnosis - the navigator is a resource for:

  • Discovery - as it relates to a specific diagnosis and providing tools for the newly diagnosed patient to make the most informed decision about cancer treatment.
  • Empowerment - providing access to the latest treatment information available, including clinical trials and treatment protocols.
  • Support - for the physical as well as the spiritual and psychosocial needs during and after an illness.
  • Survivorship - helping people to live with and through a cancer diagnosis.
