THORACIC ONCOLOGY SERVICES
Receiving a diagnosis of cancer can be devastating. At the St. Vincent Oncology program we strive to provide the highest quality, compassionate care for patients with lung, esophageal or other cancers of the chest.
Opened in 2002 on the St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis campus, the St. Vincent Thoracic Oncology program offers the most advanced care available for the treatment of tumors of the chest. A multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists including medical and radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, pain management experts, thoracic surgeons, cancer support staff and hospice experts are available to participate in any patient’s care.
This team approach has been shown to provide patients better and more timely treatment resulting in what every cancer patient desires, a better chance of beating their disease.
These dramatic results are achieved by combining a coordinated treatment plan of the most effective chemotherapy, methods of delivering radiation therapy that reduce side effects not available anywhere else in Indiana and minimally invasive surgery techniques that decrease the pain associated with surgery and results in shorter hospital stays and recovery times.
Some of these techniques were developed right here at St. Vincent Hospital.
