- Avoid aspirin or products that contain aspirin.
- Avoid the use of suppositories unless recommended.
- Do use a soft toothbrush for oral care and use an electric razor when shaving.
- Call your doctor if your bowels have not moved for more than 72 hours.
- Drink plenty of fluids and take anti-diarrhea medicine as directed. Call your doctor if diarrhea is not relieved after 24 hours.
- Avoid foods high in fiber such as bran, dried fruits and vegetables.
- Call your doctor if your temperature is 100.5 „aƒnor greater, or if you have any other signs of infection such as chills, sore throat, cough or burning when you urinate.
- Avoid people with known infections such as colds and flu.
- Avoid being in crowds.
- Some chemotherapy can alter your sex drive. This can also result from fatigue, stress, nausea or pain. Women may notice their periods become irregular or stop.
- Take your nausea medicine as prescribed and avoid foods with strong odors and spices. Rest after meals and eat small snacks during the day if you are able. Cold foods are often tolerated better than hot foods. Call your doctor if your nausea is unrelieved or if you have been vomiting and are unable to keep anything down for 12 hours.
- Avoid using alcohol.
- Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid mouthwashes with alcohol and use a soft toothbrush. Call your doctor if you have a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, or if you see sores or white patches.
- Call your doctor before you have dental work.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen on exposed skin (SPF 15 or greater).
- Wear gloves to protect from cuts and scrapes when working outside.
- Call your doctor if you feel excessively tired or short of breath, or if your heart feels like it is "racing.¨
