AFTER-HOURS COVERAGE
When emergencies arise, there is a pediatrician available 24 hours a day. Drs. Maves, Freeman, Ferguson and Ewer share calls with other pediatricians in order to provide 24-hour coverage for patients. If an injury or illness occurs after-hours and you feel your child may need to be seen emergently, please call the office and you will be connected with the answering service. The answering service will instruct you on how to reach the physician on-call for urgent matters. The pediatrician may then be able to determine if your child needs to go to the emergency room (ER) and expedite having your child seen if necessary. Unless it is an absolute emergency requiring immediate attention, please attempt to reach the physician on-call before taking your child to the ER. In some cases, insurance will not pay for ER or urgent care visits not authorized by the on-call physician. If the on-call physician sends you to the ER or an Immediate Care Center, please call the office on the next business day so the necessary referral is issued.

SATURDAY HOURS

During winter months (November-March) sick children will be seen on Saturday mornings at the office of the physician on-call. Please call the office telephone number and stay on the line for the answering service. A representative will be able to direct you to the appropriate office if your child needs to be seen. During summer months, please contact the answering service for urgent issues.
