Sanford S. Kunkel
Dr. Kunkel graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana University in 1978. He completed medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine in 1982. He completed a categorical year in orthopaedic surgery at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1983 and a residency in orthopaedic Surgery at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids in 1987. Dr. Kunkel completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, followed by a fellowship in shoulder surgery at University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Dr. Kunkel is a clinical lecturer at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is the team physian for the Indiana Fever (WNBA), Depauw University Athletic Department, and Brebeuf Preparatory School. Dr. Kunkel is also the President of the NBA Team Physician Society.
Dr. Kunkel has authored many articles published in medical journals and has presented at numerous medical seminars, including the Sports Medicine and the NBA Conference in 2000.
