Image Guided Sinus Surgery is a new computer - assisted technique that allows the surgeon to see the exact position of the surgical instruments within a patient's sinuses during surgery. Patients who have had previous sinus surgery or those with nasal polyps or frontal sinus disease may experience the greatest benefit. The anatomy in these patients may have been altered or obscured, making the surgery more difficult. Using the guidance system during surgery provides increased safety and allows more complete removal of diseased tissue, thus improving the results with fewer patient risks. |
