Your post-operative course is constructed to prevent complications. You will be encouraged to cough and breathe deeply and to use an incentive spirometer (I.S.), a breathing device used to expand your lungs. You will wear elastic stockings to promote good circulation. You will be encouraged to perform personal grooming and to eat independently as soon as you are able to return to pre-surgery activities. |
