Patricia S. Lye, M.D.

Dr. Lye is the section chief of pediatric hospital medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and medical director of the hospitalist section at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She completed her pediatric residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in 1987. She then worked in the emergency department at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin for 5 years, prior to becoming a hospitalist in 1992. She has directed the development of the general pediatric inpatient service from a traditional rotating faculty system caring for a small number of patients to a hospitalist staffed system caring for patients referred from local and regional practices, and teaching one of the four inpatient resident teams.

At the national level, she was one of the founders and initial co-chairs of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Hospital Medicine Special Interest Group, and on the program committee for the first annual Pediatric Hospitalists in Academic Settings Meeting. She currently serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Committee of Hospital Care, and was asked to be part of a national round table of pediatric hospitalists, endorsed by the AAP, the APA, and the Society of Hospital Medicine. Dr Lye has a strong interest in medical education. She served as the pediatric clerkship director for five years, has received several local teaching awards, and was an APA National Pediatric Faculty Development Scholar.
