David Zipes, M.D.

David Zipes, MD has been a full time pediatric hospitalist since completing his pediatric residency training from Cincinnati Children’s in 1996. In addition to being the first pediatric hospitalist in Indiana, he is the founding member and current director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Service at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has successfully integrated his group into virtually all aspects of the children’s hospital and the number of hospitalists has grown from two to nine under his tutelage.

He is nationally prominent in the field of pediatric hospital medicine and has contributed to multiple articles and textbooks. He was the founding member of the Society of Hospital Medicine’s Pediatric Committee and has served on their Board of Directors and as Secretary. Additionally, he was integral in the development of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine core curriculum, the PRIS network and the Tri Sponsored Pediatric Hospital Medicine Annual Meeting. He has been active in meeting planning for the Society of Hospital Medicine and is the Co-Chair for the 2008 Tri Sponsored Pediatric Hospital Medicine Meeting. He was the recipient of SHM's prestigious Award of Excellence for Service to Hospital Medicine.
