This presentation will discuss the us of heated interaperitoneal chemotherapy in surgery, the indications of use, pathophysiological effects for the patient, describe what is happening during the case, expectations of staff, supplies needed for a successful outcome and proper handling and disposal of equipment.

Objectives:
  • Understand the concept of surface spreading malignancies
  • Understand the concept of CytoReductive Surgery (CRS)
  • Understand the concept of Heated Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC)
  • Identify which tumors benefit from CRS with HIPEC
  • Learn complications associated with procedure and risks involved for patients & staff
