At St.Vincent Women’s Hospital, we believe that every new baby we help bring into
the world is a wonderful gift. On March 18th, 2006 we were especially pleased to help
Amanda and Tammy become the parents of not just one, but four special gifts – yes,
quadruplets. Ethan, Peyton, Riley, and Brooklyn were born with a combined weight
of less than some newborns weigh by themselves. And they were born at just 30
weeks and 5 days.

But these tiny little babies were born with great big potential. They just needed a
chance to prove it.

When Amanda’s water broke at only 25 weeks, her doctors helped her avoid going
into labor for another five weeks. But even so, the quads were born very
prematurely. They were too young to swallow, so they were fed intravenously. They
also needed some help breathing. But soon, thanks to the care of loving parents and a
dedicated staff, the quads were making great strides. Ethan and Brooklyn came home
after 33 days in the hospital. Peyton and Riley followed five days later.

Today, Amanda and Tammy remember what it was like to spend so many days with
the staff at St.Vincent Women’s Hospital. “They were wonderful,” says Tammy.
“They were always so caring, and they knew just what to say.” Most of all, Amanda
and Tammy are thankful that the nurses who cared for their precious little success
stories treated the babies as if they were their own.

The quads recently celebrated their first birthdays together. At the party there was
Brooklyn, the outgoing one; Ethan, the shy one; Peyton, the flirt; Riley, the smiler:
and of course, lots of messy cake faces.
