Patient Privacy

  • Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants are prohibited from posting a patient's Protected Health Information to a social media account without first obtaining written permission from the Marketing Department.

Treatment of Others and Compliance with Laws

  • Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants cannot use social media to harass or offend other associates, physicians, patients or visitors, vendor partners, or any other member of the public. Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants cannot use social media in a way that would violate copyright or any other laws (e.g., defamation, invasion of privacy, or business interference).
  • Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants are strongly encouraged to report violations of the Use of Social Media Procedure# C-1 to their supervisors.

Use of Social Media in the Workplace

  • Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants or their supervising managers must obtain approval from St.Vincent Health's Marketing Department in order to use social media for business purposes, including creating a social media account or speaking on behalf of St.Vincent Health online.
  • Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants cannot use a St.Vincent issued electronic device to access social media for personal use during working hours. Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants may use personal devices to access social media for personal use during hours as permitted by their supervisors or the policies where they work.
  • Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants cannot disclose the trade secrets, confidential information, or business information of St.Vincent Health.

Use of Social Media Outside the Workplace

  • Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants cannot make statements that could be interpreted as being endorsed by St.Vincent Health or misuse business information in any way.
  • Associates, physicians, residents, vendors, volunteers and consultants are personally responsible for the communications they make while using social media. Inappropriate communications may result in legal and/or employment consequences.
