INDIANAPOLIS – The St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospital was recently recognized with an Award of Distinction for Excellent Performance in Patient Experience for emergency departments by national healthcare market research company Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (PRC). The St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospital will be honored with the award during the 2018 Excellence in Healthcare Conference, which will take place in Charleston, South Carolina on Tuesday, May 22.

The Excellence in Healthcare Awards recognize organizations and individuals who achieve excellence throughout the year by improving patient experiences, healthcare employee engagement and physician alignment and engagement based on surveys and interviews with patients, employees and physicians. The Award of Distinction is a designation based on the percentage of patients who rate the care setting as “Excellent” for the ‘Overall Quality of Care’ question in patient surveys. This award is given to those facilities at or above the 99th percentile, meaning St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospital received the highest score possible. Based on the information gathered by PRC, St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospital is ranked as one of only four Emergency Departments in the nation to receive this distinction for overall quality of care.

Designed to improve the patient experience, St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospitals follow a new innovative model that provides patient-centered, compassionate care, but with the easier accessibility that comes with a smaller facility in a community setting. These state-of-the-art facilities offer 24/7 emergency and inpatient care as well as imaging, laboratory and in-house pharmacy services. These capabilities help to improve the overall experience for patients by providing short wait times and quick turn-around for tests and medications.

“We set out to create something that would drastically improve patient experience and revolutionize emergency and inpatient care in the area,” said Chief Clinical Officer for St. Vincent, Dr. Richard Fogel. “This recognition of our St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospital confirms that we have found a model that provides a better experience for our patients and families, and that will continue to help us lead the way in providing high quality patient care.”

St. Vincent opened the first St. Vincent Neighborhood Hospital in Noblesville in July 2017. Since then, the healthcare system has opened Neighborhood Hospitals in Avon and Plainfield, with plans to open several more Indianapolis-area locations in the coming months.
