The Cardiometabolic and Lipid Center is a specialized clinic where patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes and/or lipid abnormalities will be offered a personalized treatment plan. Lifestyle modification is combined with established and new evidence-based pharmacologic therapies to reduce the risk of cardiovascular-related complications, cardiovascular hospitalizations and ultimately cardiovascular deaths.
Diabetes and cardiovascular disease have a tremendous overlap. New evidence-based effective therapies are available to treat the spectrum of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia. The Cardiometabolic and Lipid Center will bridge the gap between medical specialties and offer the unique advantage of continuity of care.
If you have type 2 diabetes, you are at increased risk for heart disease. Having diabetes and cardiovascular disease may lower your life expectancy by approximately 11 years. The sooner you understand your risk for heart disease, the sooner you can talk to your health care provider.
Patients who qualify for the Cardiometabolic and Lipid Center
New effective therapies are available to reduce cardiovascular complications, reduce hospitalization rates and most importantly, reduce cardiovascular deaths. Patients should work to understand their numbers, make positive lifestyle changes and understand any additional risks they may face.
It is important to understand your numbers. Keeping your glucose (blood sugar), blood pressure and cholesterol on target can help you prevent or delay heart disease, nerve damage and kidney or eye problems.
