Each year, over 300,000 women die of cardiovascular disease, almost double the number of deaths caused by all types of cancer combined. Heart disease is the number one killer among women in the United States. One out of every three women will die of cardiovascular disease. Half of all African-American women and 34% of Caucasian women have cardiovascular disease.
The Women’s Cardiac Risk Clinic (WCRC), located at the St Vincent Carmel Women’s Center at 13420 N Meridian Suite 270, is a cardiac wellness prevention clinic run by a team of women cardiologists with the goal of preventing the development of heart disease in women. The WCRC consists of two visits. At the first visit, you will complete the patient profile and have fasting laboratory tests drawn. The second visit is your cardiac evaluation with our female cardiologist. You will receive a 12-lead EKG, a blood pressure check and a full cardiac assessment. The cardiologist will review your tests, your risks and devise for you a personalized lifestyle modification plan to prevent cardiac problems in the future.
