  • Insulin pump training and initiation
  • Continuous glucose monitoring system
  • Instruction on insulin administration and other diabetes medications

Diabetes Education Classes

The St.Vincent Indianapolis Diabetes Center’s team of specialists includes certified diabetes educators who help individuals balance their diabetes care with their lifestyle needs. Understanding as much as possible about diabetes and its management is the key to gaining control and feeling better. Group and individualized instruction helps those with diabetes learn to live an active, healthy lifestyle, despite the challenges of their condition.

In fiscal year 2009, the educators met with more than 800 people with diabetes in the outpatient setting and participated in health fairs and screenings throughout the local community. For additional information, call (317) 338-2349.

Getting Started

  • All services require a physician's order.
  • When an order for "diabetes education" is received, you will be contacted to set up an appointment for your education.
  • Individual insurance policies vary on reimbursement for educational services. Patients are encouraged to check their coverage prior to their appointment. Financial assistance is available for qualified candidates.
