Laboratory

We are committed to provide outstanding test quality and customer service. Our primary focus is the inpatient and outpatient population of the hospital, as well as providing testing 24/7. Advanced equipment at the St.Vincent Jennings Laboratory enables experienced technicians to provide accurate laboratory testing for patients in a timely manner. The laboratory area provides a spacious phlebotomy space with a comfortable patient waiting area. Outpatient hours in the lab are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Direct Access Testing

We are pleased to offer direct access testing, a new service that allows patients to come in and request laboratory testing without requiring a doctor’s order. There is a defined list of available tests and panels.

Who can have Testing Done?

Any person, 18 years of age or older, can request testing on themselves.

How are tests paid for?

Payment by cash, check, or credit card is expected at the time of specimen collection. Because most insurance companies will pay only for testing requested by a doctor or other healthcare provider’s written order, reimbursement by insurance is usually not available. St.Vincent Jennings will not bill your insurance company for any testing done through this program.

Will these test results be sent to my doctor?

Test results will not be sent directly to your physician. The results will be mailed to the participant of the program. Test results will also become part of your official “medical record” at St.Vincent Jennings Hospital.

LaboratoryHow will i get my test results?

Test results will be placed in the mail to you. Please allow a week for your results.

How do i determine if these test results are normal, and if they are all normal does that mean that there is nothing physically wrong with me?

All test results will have an accompanying “normal range” printed on the report. Normal ranges can vary based on the age and sex of the person being tested, so you should compare your results to the normal range on your report only.

Laboratory test results by themselves cannot be used to determine if you have or do not have a specific diagnosis or condition. Even if all the laboratory test results are in the “normal” range on your report, it does not eliminate the possibility that you may have a condition that warrants further investigation by your personal doctor. Laboratory test results are used with other diagnostic tests and a physical examination by a qualified healthcare provider, such as a medical doctor or nurse practitioner, to diagnose health conditions, make treatment plans, and monitor your progress. It his highly recommended that all participants in this program discuss the results obtained from these screening tests with your qualified healthcare provider.

When can i have direct access testing done?

Testing is available Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
