Take a moment to think about what you want in a hospital health system. What qualities define a truly great hospital system? The ability to heal? Certainly. Vital experience, knowledge, and skill? Yes. The latest technology? Yes, again.
But what's missing from this list? We think it's a focus on caring for the whole person. At St. Vincent Health, we treat healing as more than just a job. For us, it's really a calling. We believe it's our duty and privilege to take care of our patients and their families in body, mind, and spirit.
So, when it comes to caring, at St. Vincent Health, we do everything we can to help you stay healthy-and that includes looking after your emotional and spiritual well-being because we believe your ability to be well depends on this kind of complete care. When you choose us as your healthcare provider you get a team of committed doctors, nurses, technicians, and staff dedicated to getting you back to your life stronger and all the more resilient for having spent time with us.
St. Vincent Health. Being different sometimes makes all the difference.
St. Vincent is proud to congratulate the St. Vincent physicians who have been named Top Doctors by Indianapolis Monthly. While St. Vincent has always considered its entire medical staff to be among the best of Indiana’s physicians, this annual recognition by Indianapolis Monthly places these physicians in a truly elite group.
What makes our physicians so special among our patients, family members and associates is the combined experience of the care team that works with them every day of the year.
The healing touch of our physicians is complemented by the thousands of nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, chaplains and highly skilled associates who make up our Spirit of Caring and are devoted to treating the whole patient—body, mind and spirit.
Wherever you read about our St. Vincent physicians, you can be assured that the health, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient and family are given the highest priority during their stay.
St. Vincent develops and supports programs in each of its communities to improve health status and quality of life. Some of these programs impact health directly, such as providing a community health screening, while others affect health indirectly by improving quality of life. Housing, education, employment and the environment are just some of the community issues that impact the quality of life within the community and ultimately, the health status of residents.

The St. Vincent Health mission is to provide high quality, holistic care which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities, with special attention to the poor and vulnerable. This mission drives and informs the way each St. Vincent ministry contributes to its community.
As a non-profit hospital system, St. Vincent Health recognizes an obligation to measure, track and report on the level of that community benefit investment in each community served.
Community benefit investment includes not only the programs and services described in Community Connections, but also the millions of dollars in free or reduced-cost health care St. Vincent Health provides annually to the poor, vulnerable, uninsured or underinsured in each community.
The St. Vincent Health annual Community Benefit Report documents for state and local government, each St. Vincent community and our own associates the financial investment St. Vincent Health has made in each community, through programs and events, through traditional charity care and through shortfalls resulting from participation in public programs such as Medicaid. In reporting this investment, St. Vincent Health follows the policies of the Catholic Healthcare Association.
In addition to documenting the financial commitment to community benefit by location, the report offers a snapshot of key programs and events offered in that year and shares some of the underlying personal stories that reflect the importance of this investment.

Going to the hospital can often cause one concern as well as disrupt normal activities of your life. Some people are often able to use their thoughts, feelings, beliefs and relationships as resources for coping and healing, and can even grow spiritually stronger through the experience. However, most people could use extra spiritual and emotional support to assist them through this event in their lives.
It is common for patients to feel anxious, fearful, powerless, loss of control, and distant from their loved ones or their God. It can often be a time when one‘s spiritual beliefs intersect with the reality of their lives and one may often experience spiritual distress in the midst of their illness.
Many hospitals and health systems feature a listing of various awards and recognition. What’s typically missing, however, is the kind of meaningful context you use to interpret those listings. When we receive an award or some special recognition we’ll help you understand what it means—not only for us, but, most importantly, for you.
