Our cancer care services are accredited by the Commission on Cancer®. If you are faced with a cancer diagnosis, we have many treatment options and a team of board-certified oncology specialists close to home. At St. Vincent you’ll get personalized and compassionate cancer treatments and cancer survivorship programs.
Our cancer care program provides chemotherapy, radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), biotherapy and oncologic surgery. Every patient gets an individualized care plan and access to clinical trials. The social services team can help with insurance and financial questions, arrange home care and other types of supportive care. Nutritional support services with registered dietitians are also available for those who find it hard to maintain weight during cancer treatments.

Cardiologists and vascular specialists at the Center for Advanced Medicine are committed to providing the most advanced diagnostic tools and evidence-based treatments for children and adults with heart and vascular diseases. The MFM specialist manages high-risk obstetrical care in women with chronic and complex health concerns. MFMs are also involved when a family is expecting twins or other multiples. The diabetes pregnancy management program is for pregnant women with type 1 or type 2 diabetes or for women who develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. This program is led by our MFM specialist and works closely with your OB/GYN, endocrinologist or family physician.

A highly experienced team of radiologists are available to the ER and Trauma teams, and surgeons and physicians in the tri-state area. Imaging modalities include: Open MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging); traditional MRI; CT scanning; 2D and 2D digital mammography; nuclear medicine; stereotactic core needle biopsy; ultrasound; bone density, and specialized vascular tests.

We provide a variety of mental health and addiction treatment for children, teens, and adults. At the Center for Children, the psychological and emotional needs of children and teens may include behavior modification, and individual, group, and family therapy sessions. The Adult Mental Health Unit is for men and women who need short-term treatment for an acute psychiatric illness. Many types of treatments are available from individual and group support and counseling, and recreation therapies. Electroconvulsive therapy treats severe episodes of depression, mania and some types of schizophrenia. This unit is not for individuals with primary substance abuse.

St. Vincent Rehabilitation Institute
St. Vincent Evansville is a certified Primary Stroke Center with an interdisciplinary stroke team and stroke coordinator to help patients and families navigate all resources and treatment options. Our dedicated neurology hospitalist at the stroke ICU step-down unit provides comprehensive patient care in coordination with the St. Vincent Rehabilitation Institute (a CARF accredited inpatient rehabilitation program for the treatment of patients who have experienced a stroke or traumatic brain injury). Our registered nurses are trained in dysphagia screening and certified by the National Institutes of Health to make stroke scale assessments.
St. Vincent Rehabilitation traditional and highly specialized inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation therapies in many convenient locations. Traditional physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language therapy services are available to assist patients of all ages in reaching their functional goals. Our PT and OT assessments are personalized for each patient undergoing cardiac rehab, primary stroke rehab, a total joint replacement, sports injury, back and spine injuries, and cancer care therapies that treat pain, edema and tissue restrictions following chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
Balance therapists and audiologists are trained to assess and treat balance disorders due to dizziness, vertigo, blurred vision, lightheadedness, unsteadiness during walking, and those with a history of frequent falls. We also have specific therapeutic plans for concussion and vision management.
St. Vincent Evansville provides a full range of pulmonary medicine and respiratory services for patients with breathing problems like COPD, asthma and sleep disorders. Services include pulmonary function studies, oxygen evaluations, pulmonary rehab, home therapy education, and Alph-1 testing. Our Asthma Program is education based and helps children, families and adults better manage this condition. For severe persistent asthma, bronchial thermoplasty has been shown to improve asthma control and symptoms and decrease severe asthma attacks.

At the St. Vincent Warrick Serenity Unit in Boonville, IN, our 10-bed unit provides acute care and treatment for seniors experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, paranoia, hallucination, delusions, suicidal attempts, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease with behavioral changes, and at-risk behaviors that are harmful to themselves or others. Our team provides comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluations and individualized treatment plans. Families are included in the therapeutic process. An initial free assessment is provided by a mental health professional and reviewed by our psychiatric director.

The Surgery Center on the St. Vincent Evansville campus features 17 specially-equipped operating suites for many types of procedures: bariatric, cardiac, ear, nose and throat, eye, gynecologic, neurologic, dental and oral, orthopedic, plastic, podiatric, thoracic, urologic, and vascular surgery. St. Vincent Warrick also has an outpatient surgery department. Our other outpatient surgery centers are located around the Evansville metro area. When appropriate, minimally invasive surgical procedures use laparoscopic and robotic DaVinci Surgical System to improve overall health outcomes and recovery times. The Weight Management Center offers minimally invasive gastric bypass and gastric sleeve bariatric surgery for obese individuals (100 or more pounds overweight). All interested patients will have a consultation and initial evaluation with the bariatric surgeon and staff. For many of our patients, bariatric surgery has a positive impact on Type 2 diabetic symptoms, hypertension and osteoarthritis. Our weight management coordinator will explain potential insurance coverage and the bariatric treatment timeline. As part of the program, we offer a weight management support group for patients and loved ones because forming a network of support improves long-term results.

When it comes to breast health, don’t put off doing routine self-breast exams and getting a mammogram. Ask your physician if you are at risk for breast disease. St. Vincent Breast Center is a one-stop medical center with breast imaging, diagnostic testing, and breast care consultation and support in a caring and relaxed environment. Our board-certified radiologists specialize in reading breast images. We 2D and 3D mammography (tomosynthesis). A 3D image enables more detail of the breast tissue. Our computer-aided detection program acts like an additional set of eyes and flags suspicious areas of the image for the radiologist during interpretation. Breast ultrasound with SonoCine technology, breast MRI, and bone density testing are also available. Our Mobile Mammography van moves throughout the tri-state area doing digital mammography with reviews by board-certified breast radiologists.

Our advanced wound care clinic features a full-service, multidisciplinary approach to using podiatry, vascular surgery and wound care specialists to evaluate and treat skin and wound issues. This team specializes in the treatment and healing of non-healing or infected wounds, which may include: pressure ulcers, stasis ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, burns, non-healing post-surgical incisions, burns, venous insufficiency, and lower leg edema with wounds. Certified wound care specialists use the latest techniques including hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound care products for safe and effective wound management. As of November 1, 2017, St. Vincent StatFlight, operated by PHI Air Medical, is the air medical provider for Evansville and the tri-state region. The St. Vincent StatFlight branded Airbus EC 135 helicopter is equipped with industry-leading technology and equipment, including night vision goggles and a Helicopter Traffic Awareness Warning System. The Evansville base will carry life-saving blood products and be capable of transporting specialty patients that require an intra-aortic balloon pump or ventricular assist device, as well as support the critical care transport of newborns, children, and the maternal-fetal needs of women in a high-risk pregnancy.

Neonatal Transport Team – We have been safely transporting sick and premature babies since 1978 by ground transport. Our neonatal transport team is equipped with state-of-the-art transport isolettes and specialized equipment necessary to provide the best care for the sickest and tiniest babies. Our experienced team consists of neonatal nurses, neonatal RTs, paramedics, and EMTs who have undergone extensive training to ensure the highest quality of care is provided to the most fragile patients. Pediatric Transport Team – We specialize in pediatric critical care ground transportation and air medical transport for critically ill children. Our pediatric transport team includes pediatric nurses, pediatric RTs, paramedics, and EMTs. This team is certified in BLS and PALS. A pediatric intensivist directs medical care during transport.

Camp Nota-Gona-Wheeze is a free, week-long day camp designed specifically for children with asthma. It takes place each year at an EVSC school during Spring Break. Sponsored and staffed by St. Vincent, Camp Nota-Gona-Wheeze provides children with the most current education on living with asthma.
The program is staffed with St. Vincent Outreach Services Jackie Richards, a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and Molly Ralph, a Registered Dietician. They work with USI nursing students, respiratory therapy students and USI faculty, EVSC staff, 4-H, Anthem, and the public health department staff to teach students how to use their meds appropriately.
