Health awareness and prevention are core to the community outreach of the hospital. Our commitment to caring is infused in community-related activities, including programs that are educational, informative, and make a positive impact on area residents. Some of these programs impact health directly while others affect health indirectly by improving quality of life.
Our community events and programs are divided into these key areas:
Programs we participate in are not sponsored by a single department or division, but engage St. Vincent Fishers associates and clinicians.
In conjunction with St. Vincent Indianapolis Center of Hope, St. Vincent Fishers has established a satellite location providing expert treatment, advocacy, legal services coordination and evidence collection and preservation for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
A SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Educator)-trained nurse is on-call at all times, a dedicated and private examination room is provided for these vulnerable patients and specialized equipment has been purchased to collect and preserve evidence to assist in the successful prosecution of perpetrators.
The Center of Hope coordinator works closely with law enforcement, the judicial system as well as mental health and social service agencies to help victims access the services they need and to provide expert testimony that assists in securing convictions.
St. Vincent Fishers served as the lead supporter of the Geist Half Marathon & 5K with both financial and volunteer commitment.
The Marathon was created to inspire health and wellness in children who living in the Geist Reservoir area. The funds raised from the Marathon are donated to Hamilton Southeastern and Lawrence Township School Foundations.
