Dr. Michael Busk is system executive and medical director of the St. Vincent Health, Wellness and Preventive Care Institute. Dr. Busk cares for individual and corporate clients by assessing their current health risks and providing disease prevention, education, detection, treatment and management. He also serves as primary investigator and director of the American Lung Association – Asthma Clinical Research Center at St. Vincent Health.
Dr. Busk was previously the associate professor of clinical medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Occupational Medicine, and was the Catherine and Lowe Berger and Pauline L. Ford Investigator in Pulmonary Medicine. He served as the medical and research director for the National Institute for Fitness and Sport. He is the former director of the Indiana University Executive Health, Corporate Wellness and Prevention Program, which began in 1998.
Dr. Busk graduated from the University of Notre Dame and earned his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in thoracic diseases at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education. He completed a second fellowship in occupational and environmental medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Busk earned a master’s degree in public health at the University of California, Berkeley. He is board certified in internal medicine.
Dr. Busk serves as chairman of the board of the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest. He also is a member of the board for the National Institute for Fitness and Sport, Boy Scouts of America-Crossroads of America Council, Medical Licensing Board of Indiana, The Hundred Club of Indianapolis and the Dean’s Advisory Board of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Marian University.
Julie Martin, RN, MSN, is system director of the St. Vincent Health, Wellness and Preventive Care Institute. Julie oversees the clinical operations of the St. Vincent@Work on-site clinics. Prior to joining St. Vincent Health, Julie served as vice president and chief nurse executive of Clarian Health, Indiana University Hospital, as well as director of clinical operations for the Adult Cancer Center. She was a member of the board of directors for Clarian West Medical Center. Julie holds an associate’s degree in nursing and a bachelor of science in nursing degree from Purdue University, which awarded Julie with a School of Nursing Achievement Award in 2006. She achieved her master of science in nursing administration from Indiana University and was a Wharton Fellow of the Johnson & Johnson Program for Nurse Executives at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Kurt Vandeuren is account executive for program development of the St. Vincent Health, Wellness and Preventive Care Institute. A graduate of business administration at University of North Carolina in Asheville, Kurt has served in healthcare operations and project management for 25 years. Prior to joining St. Vincent Health, Kurt directed operations for a central Indiana otolaryngology and audiology practice. At St. Vincent Health, Kurt provided practice administration and operational management for the St. Vincent Primary Care Network, now St. Vincent Medical Group. Since 2000, Kurt has led system development, merger and acquisition, and strategic planning throughout St. Vincent Health in alignment with the business strategies of Ascension Health. He is gratified to be a practice leader in the wellness and prevention model that is moving to the forefront of healthcare reform.
Elisabeth Phillips, MD, is the medical director of the St. Vincent@Work worksite clinics. She grew up in Northwestern, Ohio, and graduated from Boonshaft School of Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at Methodist Hospital in 1992. Dr. Phillips was partner in a primary care practice in Broad Ripple for 20 years before joining the St. Vincent@Work team.
Stephanie is the Institute’s wellness coordinator. Stephanie has more than 15 years of experience in the wellness and fitness industry, including managing wellness/fitness programs, running fitness and recreation facilities, and overseeing fitness center redesign and construction. Stephanie is passionate about teaching and educating young professionals at the collegiate level and has been teaching exercise physiology as adjunct faculty for the past 10 years. Additionally, Stephanie stays close to her fitness roots by teaching group fitness classes and providing personal training to private clients. Stephanie has experience working with clients facing various health concerns, including osteoporosis, diabetes, weight loss/management and heart disease. Stephanie is the former director of recreation at Bellarmine University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree from Illinois State University with an emphasis in exercise physiology. She holds personal training, strength and conditioning, and group fitness certifications through the ACSM, ACE, NSCA, AFAA and Schwinn.
Jacquie is the clinical dietician for the St. Vincent Health, Wellness and Preventive Care Institute. She was born and raised in Indianapolis and received her bachelor’s degree in dietetics and nutrition, fitness and health from Purdue University. Jacquie recently completed a 10-month dietetic internship focused on disease management and health promotion at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. Jacquie has experience working with individuals who have diabetes, heart disease, cancer, weight-related issues and other chronic health conditions.
Dianne has worked in a variety of settings as a registered nurse for 25 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing and an associate degree in veterinary technology from Purdue University. Dianne has experience in cardiology, intensive care, surgery and hospice. Her ongoing passion is patient satisfaction and excellent customer service.
Ben is the Institute’s exercise physiologist. He has a broad range of experience teaching, training and counseling, from individuals with chronic disease all the way to professional athletes. Ben has worked with the Indianapolis Colts as a strength and conditioning intern and with the National Institute for Fitness and Sport as a health fitness specialist. Ben has also worked with Indiana University as an instructor in exercise physiology and a researcher in the Human Movement Laboratory. Additionally he has clinical experience as an exercise physiologist in cardiovascular testing. Ben received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from DePauw University and his master’s degree in exercise physiology from Indiana University. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a strength and conditioning specialist and personal trainer.
Debra is the clinical research coordinator for the St. Vincent Asthma Clinical Research Center. Debra received her radiology training at Mt.Sinai Hospital in Cleveland. She has worked in a variety of healthcare positions, the last decade in clinical research, including St. Vincent Cancer Care. Prior to joining St. Vincent, Debra worked in clinical research at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.
