He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Boston University Medical Center, Boston. He completed his two-year electrophysiology fellowship at Boston University Medical Center and St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital.
In 1994, Dr. Fogel joined Northside Cardiology, one of the founding members of The Care Group, a private cardiology and primary care practice in Indianapolis, as a clinical electrophysiologist. He was elected to The Care Group Board of Managers in 1998. He was instrumental in the development and opening of St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana and elected as its inaugural chairman of the board in 2002. In 2005, he was elected board vice chair and chair of the Finance Committee. In 2008, Dr. Fogel was appointed managing partner and CEO of The Care Group. He held this position until The Care Group was acquired by St. Vincent Health.
Dr. Fogel continues with a busy clinical practice in cardiac electrophysiology. His special interests include radiofrequency catheter ablation, pacemaker and ICD implantation.
He has been actively involved in the Heart Rhythm Society, the international organization representing physicians who specialize in the management of patients with heart rhythm disorders. From 2008-2011, he served as chairman of the Health Policy Committee and is a board trustee of the Heart Rhythm Society. In 2010, he was elected second vice president of the Society and will be president of the Society in 2014. Dr. Fogel is also secretary of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.

Our physicians are recognized internationally for research and development, and have been published in medicine's most prestigious journals. They presently participate in many research projects that include clinical pharmacology, cardiac devices, laser studies, gene therapy, as well as investigational ablation procedures. These treatment options are available to our patients.
St. Vincent Medical Group has an extensive research area that is involved in numerous studies. These studies involve new technologies resulting from internationally recognized research initiatives.
As a result of our research efforts, our physicians have assisted in the development of new devices for treatment of coronary artery disease and have access to the most up-to-date pharmaceutical and medical device technologies available.
Through St. Vincent Medical Group’s involvement in clinical trials, patients may have access to and benefit from investigational treatments in such cardiac specialties as clinical cardiology, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular disease. This investigational treatment is conducted under the close supervision of the physician and research coordinator, providing an additional level of care to our patients.
